During volleyball practice, our captain stares into my soul, lingers on every high-five, and makes me completely melt—then the second we step outside the gym, he walks right past me like I'm invisible. Am I losing my mind or is he just playing with me?

Hate to burst the daydream, but welcome to the classic gym-floor breadcrumb trap. In the sports hall, adrenaline is pumping, high-fives are cheap, and giving intense eye contact to the cute rookie is an effortless ego boost. But the real test isn’t who hypes you up between drills—it’s who acknowledges you exist when there’s no audience and no ball in play. Right now, he’s treating you like practice equipment: fun to play with on the court, packed away in the locker room. Time to test the waters without driving yourself crazy with jealousy. Next time you run into him outside, look him dead in the eye with a grin and say: "Did your eyes stop working outside the gym, or do you only say hi in kneepads?" If he laughs and catches up, great. If he stumbles, mumbles, or still acts cold, let him play solo. You're a full-time crush, not someone's halftime entertainment.
