Every time she brushes against my arm during study hall, my entire body violently shakes and my heart pounds so hard I swear she can hear it. I was in full panic yesterday searching if involuntary tremors from a crush are normal, when my mom walked in. Instead of teasing me, she casually went: "Oh... she actually asked me three weeks ago how to tell you she likes you." I'm completely overwhelmed. Is my body losing it, and what do I even do now?!

Take a deep breath: your nervous system isn’t broken, it’s just running on pure, unfiltered adrenaline. When someone you adore touches your skin, your brain triggers the exact same fight-or-flight response as running into a bear in the woods. Heart pounds, hands shake, palms sweat. It’s wildly inconvenient, but a hundred percent human.
Now look at the plot twist: while you were terrified your trembling would expose you, she was sitting right next to you having her own quiet panic attack. Your mom basically handed you the cheat code to your entire romantic life, so stop agonizing over a bit of nervous shaking.
Tomorrow in study hall, when you sit down next to her, don’t try to play it cool like a statue. Just look her in the eye, smile, and whisper: "My mom mentioned you asked her something interesting recently."
The hardest part is already behind you—now just enjoy the spark.
