I agreed to a cuddle-only date with my app match, terrified that taking sex off the table beforehand would completely kill the chemistry. Turns out I stressed for nothing: midway through, they confessed they only set that rule because two fingers were currently superglued to a foam cosplay dagger inside their hoodie sleeve. Where do you even go romantically after that?

Dr Gnoxx answers

Take a deep breath and start laughing: you didn't ruin the spark, you just accidentally fast-forwarded through three months of polite small talk straight into prime relationship territory. Most people dread awkward pauses on early dates; you two broke the ice with industrial adhesive. Taking sex off the table often feels like a test of whether you're genuinely attractive to each other, but real intimacy usually starts when someone drops their cool facade. Confessing an embarrassing DIY disaster takes way more genuine vulnerability than making out in the dark. Grab some acetone from the bathroom cabinet, help them dissolve the glue, and say: "For the record, I’m into you—with or without the weaponry." If you can survive emergency foam-weapon surgery on your couch without cringing, actual intimacy will be a walk in the park.
