I feel awful even asking this, but my date made a huge scene by the campfire last night because I uploaded two group selfies without letting him screen my camera roll first. He called me sneaky in front of everyone and gave me the freezing silent treatment for hours. Maybe I should’ve just waited? Now I'm terrified to even unlock my screen today.

Take a breath: you did nothing wrong, and your camera roll is not a border crossing that requires his security clearance.
What happened by that campfire wasn't about photo quality or privacy. It was a power trip. Demanding to vet your personal device and then using icy public humiliation to punish you is pure intimidation tactics, dressed up as a petty disagreement. He staged an audience so you’d feel too embarrassed to push back. That’s not normal couple friction; it’s a glaring red flag waving over your tent.
Change your passcode right now, keep your phone in your pocket, and stop walking on eggshells. If he demands another pre-screening, you don't need to apologize or explain. Just say calmly: "My phone belongs to me, not a committee. I decide what I post."
If he sulks, let him freeze. Someone who treats you like a suspect on a fun summer trip doesn't deserve VIP access to your photos—or your time.
