I finally figured out who I am thanks to creators on TikTok, and for the first time, I actually feel proud. But last night at dinner, my mom casually said bisexual people 'just want to have their cake and eat it too' and can't stay loyal. It crushed me. I want so badly to come out and share this joy with them, but I'm terrified they'll just see me as dishonest.

Take a deep breath: your capacity to love more than one gender does not make you a walking betrayal waiting to happen. Bisexuality isn't greediness, and it certainly isn't an inability to pick a lane. Being attracted to dogs and cats doesn’t mean you steal every pet you walk past on the sidewalk, right? Your parents are just parroting lazy, dusty clichés from 90s television because they haven't had someone close to them show them what reality actually looks like. You don't owe them a 20-page dissertation defending your future loyalty before you even come out. When you feel ready to tell them, anchor it in who you are, not their stereotypes. Try something simple: 'I'm bi. It just means who a person is matters to me way more than their gender, and loyalty is about character, not who I like.' If they need a minute to unlearn the nonsense, give them that minute. But remember: you found your pride, and their outdated script doesn't get to erase it.
