I found out yesterday that my entire evening school class has a side chat where they coordinate study sessions and team projects without me. When project partners were assigned today, everyone was already paired up and I was left standing there like an idiot. It feels pathetic being thirty and back in high school cafeteria hell.

Ouch. Going back to school as an adult is hard enough without getting blindsided by the ghost of high school cafeteria politics. First off: this is rarely a calculated conspiracy against you. In adult evening classes, one self-appointed social director usually starts a thread with the two people sitting next to them, it snowballs through pure momentum, and anyone outside their immediate eyeline just gets forgotten. It feels personal, but nine times out of ten, it’s just lazy herd behavior. You don’t need to audition for their clique, but you do need to stop treating their channel like a secret society. At the end of the next lesson, casually walk up to whoever is holding court and say: "Hey, send me the invite link to the study chat so I'm in the loop for the next assignment." Treat it as the most normal request in the world—because it is. If they act weird or freeze you out, you have your answer: they’re immature, and you’re there to get your qualification, not to win popularity contests. Hold your head up. You belong in that room.
