I had a complete panic attack in the locker room today because my stretch marks felt like glowing neon signs. I do track and field competitively, so my thighs and hips grew super fast with muscle, leaving pretty deep stripes. I used to own them, but then a teammate showed me my ex's new Tinder bio where he literally brags that he only dates girls with 'flawless skin, no tiger stripes.' He picked at my body when we dated, and now every time I pull on my running shorts or stand in the starting blocks, I feel nauseous. How am I supposed to compete when I feel this disgusting?

Dr Gnoxx answers

Deep breath: Your skin stretched because you built the engine of a high-performance athlete, while your ex is apparently running on the mental bandwidth of a dial-up modem. Here is the reality: stretch marks aren't a flaw, they are literally structural proof that your body expanded faster than its outer layer—often because of explosive muscle growth in sports. Anyone putting 'flawless skin only' on a dating profile is waving a massive, glowing red flag that screams shallow insecurity. He couldn't handle your power when you were together, so now he's trying to weaponize standard human anatomy from behind a screen. The next time that voice creeps in at the blocks, look down at your legs and remind yourself: 'These legs break records, they don't exist to decorate a coward's Tinder feed.' Block his profile everywhere, tell your teammates to stop feeding you his digital circus, and run right past him.
