I just moved into my first flat and my new guy of two weeks posted a photo of our unmade bed with rose petals straight into my family group chat 💀 He’s been smothering my place in lavish gifts and love notes every day, and now my dad has seen our sheets before my curtains are even up. I’m utterly mortified, is this supposed to be cute or is he unhinged?!

Take a breath: No, your dad didn't need to see your ruffled sheets, and you are definitely not crazy for wanting to crawl under a rock.
Two weeks in, a mountain of lavish gifts, and broadcasting your bedroom to your parents isn't a modern fairytale—it's textbook love bombing with a side of territorial pissing. He isn't simply wooing you; he's planting his flag in your brand-new independence before you've even had time to buy a bathmat. Intimacy takes time, and your private sanctuary isn't a public stage.
Hit the emergency brake immediately. Look him dead in the eye and say: 'The gifts are overwhelming, and sending our bedroom setup to my family chat crossed a huge line. We need to dial this way back, right now.'
Watch his reaction closely: if he genuinely listens and backs off, great. But if he pouts, acts like a wounded martyr, or calls you ungrateful, pack his gifts in a box and change the locks. Your first flat is your castle, not his movie set.
