I know it's TMI and totally my fault for oversharing, but I had to go to an urgent care clinic alone yesterday for severe rectal bleeding and an emergency exam. I was terrified out of my mind, so I texted my group chat just wanting someone to talk to, and they immediately spammed barf emojis and called me foul. Now they've completely iced me out. Did I cross a massive line? I feel so dirty and ashamed.

Take a deep breath and drop the guilt immediately: having an anatomy is not a crime, and neither is making sure your body isn't actively breaking down.
You had a medical scare in a sterile clinic room, alone, in the middle of a massive city. That is genuinely terrifying. To a doctor, your backside is about as scandalous as an elbow—they see dozens before lunch. What is actually shocking here is a bunch of supposedly grown friends acting like twelve-year-olds discovering puberty for the first time.
They didn't ice you out because you were "gross"; they panicked because real vulnerability made their easy banter uncomfortable. You reached out for comfort and got slapped with playground cruelty.
Do not send an apologetic paragraph groveling for forgiveness. If someone finally checks in, give them pure, calm reality: "I was terrified in an ER and needed a friend, not a middle-school laugh track." Put your phone down, hydrate, and rest. Taking care of your health was brave—their reaction just showed you exactly who isn't ready for real life yet.
