I’m in my first queer long-distance relationship, and whenever my dating past comes up on Instagram, my partner publicly comments that I'm just 'straight-passing'. It stings every time, and I don't know how to set a boundary without turning our comment section into a battlefield.

Let’s get one thing clear: having an ex of a different gender doesn’t make your bisexuality a trial subscription. Calling someone 'straight-passing' as a public dig isn’t queer solidarity—it’s insecurity disguised as community lingo. Especially in a long-distance setup where social media carries half the relationship, using your comment section to police your identity is unfair gatekeeping.
Don’t debate this publicly. Take it straight to a private video call and lay it out cleanly: "When you reduce my past to 'straight-passing' on my posts, it hurts and it invalidates who I am. I need you to stop doing that publicly and privately."
A loving partner celebrates that you found your way to them, instead of constantly checking your queer credentials at the door. Your sexuality belongs entirely to you, not to the Instagram algorithm or your partner’s comment history.
