I'm literally hiding by the drinks cooler right now because my app match just gave me an insane ultimatum. We’ve been texting for two weeks, met up tonight at this house party, and out of nowhere they cornered me saying we either tell everyone here we’re officially dating right now, or they block me forever. Then I overheard their friends laughing by the stairs about a bet on locking down a partner before midnight. My stomach is in knots, I actually liked them, but should I just say yes so they don't walk out?

Deep breath and put down the plastic cup: do not let anyone treat you like a side quest in a party game. Nobody falls so frantically in love between the sofa and the kitchen that they need a public relationship launch before midnight. An ultimatum on night one isn’t passion, it’s pure ego—and tying it to a dumb bet with their buddies makes it a total circus. You are a real person with feelings, not twenty bucks and bragging rights in a group chat. Walk back out there, keep your chin up, and hand them their reality check: "I came here to get to know you, not to help you win a bet. If you want to block me over that, be my guest." Then turn around and grab a snack. Real connections don’t come with a countdown timer, so let them lose their bet while you keep your dignity intact.
