I poured my heart out on WhatsApp and got thirty-six hours of humiliating silence. Turns out my crush never even saw it: our mutual best friend borrowed their phone, panicked about being replaced, and secretly wiped my preview notification. I feel violated, furious, and totally ridiculous. What now?

First things first: take a deep breath and pick your dignity up off the floor. You weren’t rejected; you were digitally sabotaged by someone who’d rather play villain than share a Sunday brunch.
Your feelings aren’t ridiculous, and neither was being brave. What is ridiculous is a grown adult operating like a covert spy because they can't handle their friend catching feelings. That’s pure insecurity dressed up as boundary-crossing meddling.
Separate the two fires. Don’t let the friend’s messy interference rob you of your moment. Shoot your crush a straightforward text or, even better, call them: "Hey, weird question, but did someone clear a message from me off your lock screen on Friday?" Once that’s cleared up, you can both figure out what you actually feel without a chaperone.
As for the "best friend": they just bought themselves a front-row seat to a very stern conversation about basic privacy and trust. Chin up. Bravery looks good on you; sabotage doesn't look good on anyone.
