I spent all morning at my apprenticeship having mini panic attacks over his blue ticks, only for him to text me that his little brother stole his phone to play Brawl Stars and opened all his chats. Can I finally breathe, or is that a ridiculous excuse?

Put the detective magnifying glass down: your relationship isn't crumbling, it just got hijacked by a kid with sticky fingers.
Those double blue ticks are pure psychological warfare. The second they turn blue, your brain happily writes an entire five-season Netflix drama about why you’re being ignored. In reality, modern life is delightfully clumsy: dirty hands on the job, dead batteries, or a younger sibling blindly mashing the screen to beat a level.
Take the win, exhale, and laugh about it. But since that spiral felt so real, use this as a chance to protect your peace. WhatsApp is not an emergency hotline, and trade school shifts are stressful enough without obsessing over timestamps. Turn off your read receipts for a week, or just tell him: "I forgive you, but if your brother leaves me on read again, he owes me an iced coffee."
Don't let two tiny pixels dictate your heart rate. Real love doesn't vanish between two app notifications.
