I turned into a full-blown glowing red lobster from pure stress hives halfway through our first real dinner date, and now he’s left me on read for fourteen hours. How do I convince him my nervous system just short-circuited from liking him so much and that I’m not carrying an infectious disease?!
Dr Gnoxx answers
Deep breath: your immune system basically launched romantic fireworks via histamine, which is wildly awkward, but zero percent dangerous to him.
Your body didn’t fail you on purpose; it just mistook date-night adrenaline for a battle drill. It happens, even if turning into a speckled tomato over pasta isn't on anyone's romance bingo card. But right now, frantic paragraphs explaining medical science will only make you look terrified.
Stop the lecture, put the phone down for an hour, and then send one lighthearted, dry text: "Sorry for turning into a human warning light yesterday! Turns out my adrenaline has zero chill, but I swear it’s completely non-contagious. Promise I look normal 95% of the time 😉"
If he can laugh at your body throwing a tiny nervous disco, he’s a keeper. And if a temporary allergic reaction to being excited scares him off? Then his sense of humor was way too fragile for real life anyway.
