My apprentice group chat is treating my weekend like a spectator sport, and I’m ready to scream. Everyone keeps spamming countdown GIFs and memes because I’m supposedly hooking up with this guy from logistics for my first time. I went along with the banter at first, but now my stomach is completely in knots and I just want to bail. How do I back out without becoming the office joke?

Hard stop right here: your sex life is not a company team-building exercise, and you definitely don’t owe anyone a performance review. When a group chat gets rolling, it turns into an out-of-control hype train where people project their own weekend boredom onto you. But sex just to avoid looking awkward on Monday is the worst trade deal in human history. If your gut is screaming no, you hit the brakes. Full stop. First, text the guy directly. Keep it breezy and private: "Hey, I know we talked about hanging out, but I’m actually not in the right headspace for it this weekend. Wanted to let you know!" No over-apologizing, no fake excuses. For the chat peanut gallery? Put notifications on mute. When they start fishing for updates on Monday, give them a bored, deadpan shrug: "Plans changed, nothing to report, can we get back to complaining about our shift rota now?" You're the sole CEO of your own body—feel free to cancel the project anytime you want.
