My ex has been blowing up my phone at 2 a.m. crying, which made me feel horribly guilty since I just started seeing someone new here. But last night my ex sent receipts: my new date tracked him down on Tinder first just to taunt him about having 'won' me. I feel sick and so ashamed.

Dr Gnoxx answers

Take a deep breath and drop that guilt right now: you didn't do anything wrong, but your new flame just waved a massive red flag in high definition. Tracking down an ex on an app just to rub salt in the wound isn't cute, protective, or romantic. It's petty, insecure territory-marking, and doing it in a small town where everyone talks is especially nasty. Put the brakes on this new romance immediately and confront them: "I saw the messages you sent my ex on Tinder. That is completely unhinged and not how I treat people, so we need to stop seeing each other." Anyone who needs to kick someone who's already down just to feel like a winner isn't boyfriend material—they're a walking PR nightmare.
