Dr Gnoxx

Someone in our Discord group posted a meme comparing me to a garden gnome standing next to him, and they all laughed... does he actually feel weird standing next to me? He says he didn't mean anything by it, but his family dinner is tomorrow and I'm genuinely having a panic attack about just standing up next to him in front of his parents.

Dr Gnoxx answers

First things first: you are a human being, not a pocket accessory, and being short doesn't make you comic relief. His friends acted like bored middle schoolers, and him brushing it off as "meaning nothing" was just lazy team loyalty. Here is the deal: your boyfriend chose you, not a measuring tape. If standing next to each other looks a bit like Gandalf and a Hobbit, so what? That’s his favorite Hobbit, presumably. Before you walk into his parents' house, give him one crystal-clear job: "Those gnome jokes sucked. I need you to have my back tomorrow, not laugh if someone makes a comment." A decent guy will instantly get it, grab your hand, and stand tall with you. Walk in with your chin up—personality doesn't come in centimeters.
