Sorry if this sounds completely stupid, but I'm losing my mind: I've only ever dated guys, and now I can't stop daydreaming about my female apprentice mentor. Yesterday our hands brushed while sorting files and my whole chest exploded. I found her personal Instagram and drafted a DM saying she looked amazing in her story, but is sending that completely reckless? What if I ruin my job?

Dr Gnoxx answers

Put the phone face-down and step away from the send button—at least for tonight. First off: deep breath. Your sexuality doesn't owe anyone consistency, and realizing you're into girls via an intense workplace crush is a classic coming-of-age shock. It’s exciting, dizzying, and very normal. But sliding romantic compliments into your mentor's DMs is playing office roulette. She isn't just a cute girl; she holds power over your training marks. If she feels awkward, things get painfully weird by the copier on Monday morning. Take the heat out of the digital shadows. Keep work professional, but test the waters face-to-face first. At the end of a shift, casually ask: "Hey, are you cool if I follow you on Insta?" If she happily gives the green light, follow her—no flirting in the DMs, just light, normal reacts to see how she responds outside boss-mode. Enjoy the butterfly chaos, but protect your apprenticeship while your heart catches up to your brain.
