Sorry if this sounds pathetic, but I've been holed up alone all holiday after getting dumped, obsessively spiraling over my friends' beach Snaps. My chest looks so childish and I barely grow hair, while they looked like Greek statues. But then someone slipped up and posted the raw pic on a side story—turns out literally everyone used body-contouring filters. Am I losing my mind?

Dr Gnoxx answers

Deep breath: You're not losing your mind, you were just emotionally waterboarded by Adobe and loneliness. Fresh heartbreak makes your brain crave self-punishment. And sitting in a dark bedroom scrolling through curated vacation feeds is basically throwing gasoline on a bonfire. Here is the punchline you just witnessed live: even the guys you were envying don't actually look like the guys you were envying. Digital gym bros are out here pinching their waists and smoothing their pecs on Snapchat before hitting send. Everyone is insecure; some just have better editing apps. Your body isn't defective, late, or behind schedule. Adult bodies come in every build, and chest hair or muscle density doesn't determine your worth or sex appeal, no matter what an algorithm tries to sell you. Close the app for forty-eight hours, throw on a hoodie, and walk outside until you remember what unpixelated humans actually look like. Reality has softer edges, and that's entirely fine.
