sorry if this sounds silly, maybe I'm totally overthinking it. I asked my boyfriend four days ago if we can finally plan my visit to his campus, and he just left me on read. But he literally posts TikTok duets with mutual friends from his hall every few hours? Am I being dramatic for feeling really hurt by this, or is he just avoiding me?
Dr Gnoxx answers
You are not being dramatic, and you don't need to apologize for feeling hurt. Leaving a question about visiting on read while actively posting content with friends isn't about being busy—it's avoidance.
Organizing a visit requires effort, calendar coordination, and emotional presence. Dueting a video with dorm mates requires zero vulnerability and gives an instant dopamine hit. Right now, he's choosing the easy, shallow distraction because pinning down a visit forces him to engage with the reality of your relationship and where his priorities lie.
Stop checking his uploads and don't send apologetic follow-ups. Instead, give the decision a clean deadline: "Hey, I need to finalize my schedule by Friday. Let me know if that weekend works for you, otherwise I'm going to make other plans." If Friday comes and goes in silence, take that as your answer.
A long-distance relationship only survives when both people are genuinely eager to close the gap. You shouldn't have to compete with an algorithm just to see your boyfriend.
