sorry if this sounds stupid, but a senior from my school matched with me on Tinder and sends flirty texts and flame emojis at 1 a.m. Every single day at school though, he walks right past me in the hallway and looks straight through me like I'm a ghost... did I do something wrong to embarrass him?

Dr Gnoxx answers

Spoiler: The only embarrassing thing in that hallway is his spine, which clearly dissolves the moment the sun comes up. You didn’t do anything wrong. What you’re dealing with is a classic late-night ego boost: in the dark behind a screen, he wants your validation, but in broad daylight in front of his friends, he’s too insecure to stand by it. That’s not mysterious, it’s just cowardly breadcrumbing. Treat him like the museum exhibit he pretends to be. Next time he drops a midnight flame emoji, ignore it or leave it on read. If he ever asks why you’re suddenly quiet, give him the ultimate reality check: “I only chat with people who exist between 8 a.m. and 3 p.m.” Keep your head up in that hallway—you belong in the daylight, not hidden away in his night shift.
