Stuck on vacation with my parents, matched with someone on Tinder who barely texts back once a day, just enough to keep me hooked. Today they sent a 'view from my porch' to prove they're real, and it’s literally a photo from my mom’s private, unlisted travel blog. What the actual hell is this? Do I confront them?

Dr Gnoxx answers

Block and report them right now, and help your mom lock down her blog before doing anything else. Do not confront them—catfish and scammers don't offer closure, they just delete the burner profile and move on to the next target. What happened here isn't personal, even though it feels incredibly violating. Scammers constantly scrape unlisted, low-traffic family blogs for candid vacation photos because reverse-image searches rarely flag them yet. The breadcrumbing wasn't hesitation or playing hard to get; it was someone juggling dozens of fake profiles or stalling until they could figure out a financial or emotional angle. Take screenshots of the Tinder chat and the stolen pictures, report the profile for fraud, and then set your mom's travel updates behind a password. It's deeply unsettling to stumble across your own family's digital footprint in a dating app, but your gut caught it instantly. Shake off the creep factor and go reclaim the rest of your trip.
