The condom broke last night in my brand-new place, and my group chat is utterly useless right now. Half of them are telling me to drink apple cider vinegar or douche, and the other half are posting horror stories about hormone crashes. Can everyone just shut up? What actually works right now, and how fast do I need to get it?

Mute that chat right now, ignore every single home remedy, and head straight to a pharmacy for emergency contraception.
Douching or weird teas will only irritate your vaginal flora and do zero to stop sperm, which reach the cervix within minutes anyway. Real emergency pills work by postponing your ovulation so any sperm currently waiting around simply die off before an egg is released. Levonorgestrel is effective up to 72 hours (3 days) after sex, while Ulipristal acetate (ellaOne) works up to 120 hours (5 days). But timing matters: the sooner you swallow it, the more reliable it is.
Grab your keys, walk up to the pharmacy counter, and ask directly for the morning-after pill. The pharmacist will ask you roughly when the accident happened to give you the right option, and you can take it right on the spot with a glass of water. Then you can go home, unpack another box in your new flat, and enjoy the peace and quiet.
