We’ve been hooking up low-key for two months after track practice. Yesterday after the meet, we took a selfie in the gear shed that was strictly between us. Instead, he posted it to his Snapchat streaks to humblebrag, framing me as some secret fangirl crushing on him to feed his ego. But he’s an idiot and accidentally pasted his raw training log instead of his caption—which literally outlines his plan to steal my best friend’s 400m relay spot. I am shaking with rage. How do I shut him down without blowing up the whole team dynamic?

Dr Gnoxx answers

Make him delete it immediately, and take this as your clean exit from whatever you two were doing. He used your image to stroke his ego, denied your actual connection to protect his player image, and accidentally exposed his shady agenda against your friend. When someone treats you like a prop, you stop sharing your space with them. First, screenshot the post if you haven't already, just so he can't gaslight you later. Then send him one clear, blunt message: "Delete that post right now. Do not post photos of me again, and we’re done." Do not debate him or accept half-hearted apologies about it being a misclick. After that, give your best friend a quiet heads-up about the relay notes. You don’t need to start locker-room warfare, but your friend deserves to know what kind of competition they're facing on the track. Loyalty to people who actually respect you always comes first. You don't owe him a soft landing when he tripped over his own ego.
