We’ve lived together for three years, and my mom just casually dropped in the group chat that she booked separate twin rooms for us on vacation?! She texted me saying we must 'respect morals' since she’s paying. Wait, am I twelve again? Is it insane if we just pay for our own hotel room, or will that completely nuke the entire family trip?

Spoiler alert: You’re not twelve, and sharing a duvet with your long-term partner won’t summon a moral apocalypse upon the hotel.
What your parents are doing is a classic move: financial leverage disguised as family values. Booking separate rooms behind your back isn't about modesty, it’s about refusing to acknowledge that you are a grown adult with an actual life. And dropping that guilt trip via WhatsApp? Cowardly at best.
You don’t need to throw a dramatic tantrum, but you do need to draw the line. Politely step out of the bunk-bed nostalgia trap. Text back something calm and bulletproof: "Thanks for organizing, but since we share a bed at home, we're booking our own room so everyone’s comfortable."
Pay for your own space. If they pout, let them pout. You came for a family vacation, not an audition for a 1950s boarding school drama.
