We’ve only been dating for three weeks, but in our class meme chat, they keep tagging their ex under every single post like they never broke up. Am I overreacting, or is it normal that watching this happen in real time makes me feel totally sick?

First things first: you are not paranoid, and your stomach isn't doing backflips for no reason. Watching the person you just started dating tag their ex like they’re still co-captains of the banter squad feels like being an understudy in your own movie. Here is the reality: breakups don't automatically wipe shared internet humor, and in school chats, autopilot takes over fast. But just because it might be mindless habit for them doesn't mean you have to quietly swallow that sour feeling. You don't need to issue a dramatic ban, but you definitely don't have to pretend you're cool with the public ping-pong. Bring it up offline, short and zero-drama: *“Hey, seeing you guys trade inside jokes in the chat feels weirdly like third-wheeling my own relationship. Can we leave the reruns in the past?”* Their reaction will tell you all you need to know. Someone genuinely invested in you will read the room and adjust. You signed up for a new chapter, not front-row seats to their greatest hits.
